PROFESSOR VINICIUS AGUDO
Meet Professor Vinicius Agudo, a 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Master Leo Vieira, founder of VA Academy, and Head Official for FloGrappling’s WNO. Serving Wylie, Texas and surrounding communities.
Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Vinicius began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2003 at the age of 15 under former UFC contender and World Champion Gabriel “Napao” Gonzaga, who later awarded him his black belt in 2013.
As a colored belt competing throughout Brazil, Vinicius earned medals at numerous state championships while also reaching the podium at the Brazilian National Championships and South American Championships.
In 2007, he traveled to the United States for the first time to compete at the IBJJF World No-Gi Championship in California as a purple belt. Inspired by the experience and driven by the dream of one day opening his own academy, he began traveling between Brazil and the United States teaching, competing, and continuing to develop his craft.
Throughout his journey, Vinicius trained, taught, competed, and refereed across both Brazil and the United States. He spent time training and teaching under respected instructors, including Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa, while building experience as an athlete, instructor, and official.
After years of traveling the country competing and refereeing for the IBJJF, Vinicius moved to Dallas in 2016 and permanently settled in Wylie, Texas, where he founded VA Academy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Today, Professor Agudo has over 20 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience and remains dedicated to helping students of all ages build confidence, discipline, resilience, and self-defense skills through authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction.
